What are we going to build?

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to use the Foursquare plug-in in Appery.io. All it takes is a few clicks, and you’re ready to get Foursquare API data from your mobile app. The Foursquare API plug-in provides everything you need to connect to Foursquare and start using the Foursquare API.

Before you begin

Before using the Foursquare API plug-in, you’ll need to sign up for a developer’s account to get API keys. You can register for the Foursquare API at https://developer.foursquare.com/.

Create a new project

1. Click “Create new app,” enter Foursquare App for the app name, and click “Create”.

Once the mobile editor loads, you’ll see something like:FirstPage

2. On the left-hand side, click Pages > startScreenan editor with an empty startScreen will open:StartScreen

Import the plug-in

1. To import the plug-in, click CREATE NEW > From Plug-in:

2. In the Social Networking category, check “Foursquare API”:

3. Click “Import selected plug-ins.”

4. In the next step, you’ll be asked whether you want to set the Foursquare_Settings plug-in and set the plug-in page as the the start page. Foursquare_Settings contains API keys and other information that is common to all the services in the plugin. Check the box and сlick “Apply settings”:

5. Once the plugin is imported, you’ll have two more pages in your app: Foursquare_Signin and Foursquare_User. The page called Foursquare_Signin can be used as the start page for your app. The available pages look like:

You can open the Foursquare_UserAPI REST service, which allows you to work with user parameters.
